Homework

Daily Homework

Daily written homework assignments should take no more than 15-20 minutes each day to complete and is a reflection of what has been learned in class that day. Students will typically bring home a daily math homework page and some spelling practice pages. Reading logs are in addition to the daily homework. Occasionally special projects will be sent home with detailed instructions and a specific due date.

Homework should be...

  • Neatly completed in pencil and colored pencil/crayon if coloring is required (no marker please).

  • Print only. NO cursive writing.

  • Brought to class everyday unless I am given notice. This is your child's responsibility to complete and bring their homework each day ready for class.

Reading Log

Reading logs are started each Friday, so that students may plan their reading log homework around other activities. The expectation is that students read 5 times a week for at least 20-30 min. If your child has an activity during the week, they may read on the weekend and record it on their log.

Reading logs are for students to fill out in their own handwriting. Reading logs are NOT for parents to complete for their child. Second grade is a big year for gaining independence and completing their reading log homework is part of that process. Students are expected to use their best printing, total the minutes, and get their parent to initial the log EACH week. Reading logs are due EVERY Friday morning.
