Create a small chapbook or “zine” using precisely none of your own content. Beg, borrow, steal. Do not write a single word, do not take a single photograph, do not draw a single line. You may re-contextualize / re-purpose / re-engineer the content you gather using the applications we have explored so far in this class (or others as you see fit). Use or undermine typographic conventions, and abide by or abolish principles of “good design,” as you prefer. There should be a reason for which of these paths you take, and this reason should be linked to your understanding of the content you have chosen to re-present.
Note that you should make at least one printed edition of your project (if you want to make more, that’s fine, but not required); it can be in color or black and white, as you prefer. While you may use physical manipulation of media (collage, photocopying, etc.), you should also be sure to incorporate the tools and techniques we have explored throughout the semester, including Adobe InDesign (as well as Illustrator / Photoshop where necessary).
We will critique your work in class on Tuesday, November 15 or Thursday, November 17.
Please upload a .zip file containing all InDesign / Illustrator / Photoshop files (with layers) and photographic documentation of your work to the Google Drive Folder below by Tuesday, November 15 at 12pm.
Please adhere to the naming convention Familyname_Forename-P3.zip
By Tuesday, November 22 at 12pm, update your portfolio site to include documentation of your project, including web-optimized images (at a reasonable resolution), a short description of your work, and process images where necessary / helpful.
