Create a set of conditions by which you derive a series of paths using Illustrator, and realize a physical manifestation of these conditions using the laser cutters in the Brown Design Workshop. Take into consideration the physical properties of the material you choose to cut, and the power / speed settings. The resulting work can be presented in low relief (through changing settings and / or using a combination of raster and vector graphics) or high relief (by layering materials), or may reside within a nearly two-dimensional picture plane (with raster / vector graphics as a single pass).
Note that you will be required to undertake a laser cutting workshop in order to gain access to the laser cutters in the Brown Design Workshop. Workshop schedules are announced via the Brown Design Workshop website. Please make plans to attend well ahead of the project due date, and be sure to allow ample time for testing / iteration; you may arrive at exciting and unforeseen ends through experimentation.
