The Typical Recruitment Timeline will be between 10-15 weeks
Recruitment should begin in early spring for an official start date of July 1 in the role. July 1 is the beginning of the new fiscal year.
March
Identify the roles that are open and will need to be filled. This may be handled by the full board or a committee on the board who will take point on this effort.
Review and update the necessary web pages about joining the board; the email templates and the submission form
Finalize the timeline for email communications and boarding.

Communications Timeline:
March 14 - Send Nomination(s) Email
March 29 - Reminder to submit email
April 8- if needed, last chance email
April 10 - Deadline for Submissions
Week of March 29 - Recruitment Committee members to send out personal outreach to those submitted and set times to chat and add notes to submission for excel document
Week of April 8 - Recruitment Committee email current nominees to see if they have any questions you can answer about the board. Remind them about the timeline (selections will be announced in mid-April).
Week of April 10 – nominations committee meets to review nominations / finalize the board
Week of April 17 - results communicated to nominees and confirm acceptance
Onboarding Timeline:
Late April/early May- Brief Welcome to the Board (virtual) meeting with Overview by the current board (potential intro from alumni relations liaison)
Have new members complete the “meet the board” questionnaire and send a photo and confirm first official board meeting (a board retreat)
Encourage them to attend any upcoming events
May - Email the full board, welcoming and any other news also share what to prep for and what to expect at retreat
Summer Email Communication:
Announcing new board to all alumni and call to action for ideas for coming fall, a recap of any recent events WITH PHOTOS
June/July - Board (Retreat) Meeting - IN PERSON
Ideally in June to include the current board members terming off
Board Retreat Agenda: 2 - 3 hours
30 mins - Welcome reception, coffee/tea and snacks
10 minutes - Brief overview of goals as a board/club and asking to write down ideas on post-its and stick them on the wall throughout retreat at any time.
5 minutes - Questions
45 minutes - What are the goals as a board? What do you hope to gain?

*This can be when you start categorizing what is on the wall and picking what the group may want to move forward with and separating by season (fall, next fall, this February, spring, next spring - etc). This would also be how to figure out your communications schedule a bit too.
