Onboarding new members is an important component of the transition process to allow the hard work of the current volunteers to continue on with new members. This is also a valuable tool for current and continuing members to have a chance to reflect, share and reconnect with each other at the start of a new year. The best way to begin this process is with a board retreat!
June/July - Board (Retreat) Meeting - IN PERSON
Ideally in June to include the current board members terming off
Board Retreat Agenda: 2 - 3 hours
30 mins - Welcome reception, coffee/tea and snacks
10 minutes - Brief overview of goals as a board/club and asking to write down ideas on post-its and stick them on the wall throughout retreat at any time.
5 minutes - Questions
45 minutes - What are the goals as a board? What do you hope to gain?
Ways to think of programming
*This can be when you start categorizing what is on the wall and picking what the group may want to move forward with and separating by season (fall, next fall, this February, spring, next spring - etc). This would also be how to figure out your communications schedule a bit too.
