Small group counseling, typically happening during lunch, are small groups of children (typically 4-6 students) from the same grade level. These children are chosen to be part of a group depending on the topic. Students may sign up for a specific group, teachers or parents may refer, or students could be chosen by the counselor. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
New Students
Social Skills
Friendship
Grief
Military Kids
Etc!
Groups typically happen 1x/week during lunch for 6-12 weeks, depending on the topic. Permission from parents/guardians is required for student participation in groups. Confidentiality is stressed to students during each session, but can not always be guaranteed due to the age of our students.
