2024-25 CAPTAINS
The following students have been selected as captains for the 2024-25 competitive season in recognition for their outstanding performance in their respective events and the contributions they have made to the success of their fellow teammates and our program.
Dhairya Gurnani began his speech and debate career with BDI as an incoming 7th grader in the Fall of 2023. He ended his first season the following spring as one of our program's most competitive Public Forum debaters with two 5th Place QTRs finishes at the 2024 Bay Area Middle School and USA Forensics Olympiad Championships, in addition to a 2nd Place finish most recently at the USAFO May Summer Opener.
Ronit Parikh has competed for Brooks Debate since he was a fourth grader in the Fall of 2020. He begins our program's 2024-25 campaign with a number of honors and titles: its first 2nd year captain (2023-24 & 2024-25), its elder statesman (5th year veteran), and its most decorated competitor in Public Forum Debate: 6x tournament champion including first place finishes last spring at both the 2024 Bay Area Middle School Championship and 2024 Middle School Tournament of Champions.

Congratulations to all four of our 2023-24 team captains for ending the season as 1st place tournament champions
at both the 2024 Bay Area Middle School Championship & 2024 Middle School Tournament of Champions!!
In addition to Co-Captain honors, both members of "BROOKS LP" also have the distinction of being our program's most accomplished Public Forum team. Amanda (Gr8) & Ronit (Gr7) finished their first year debating together (2022-23) winning the 2023 Western JV Novice Championship and placing 2nd at the 2023 CHSSA Middle School State Championship. They've started the 2023-24 season off championing and going undefeated at both the 2023 Stephen Stewart Memorial (JV PF) & CSU Fullerton Fall Invitational (MS PF).
Despite his youth, Ronit also serves as our program's elder statesman, having represented our team in Public Forum Debate since his fourth grade year in the Fall of 2020.
Brinda (Gr8) began competing for our program at the start of our 2023-24 campaign. Our newly appointed Info Captain started the season off by placing 1st in Middle School Platform at the National Online Forensics Birch Invitational, 2nd in Open Informative at the 2023 CSU Fullerton Fall Invitational, and 1st in the 2023 UCLA Invite.
Shon's (Gr8) first Congress tournament ever was the 2023 Bentley Middle School Invitational, where he finished the day with both 1st place honors and a promotion to his current rank as BDI's 2023-24 Congress Captain for the remainder of the season.
