If you are in the classroom and are in need of an extra challenge, you need to access your create area. In this area you will find a series of different tasks which you can complete which will further develop your learning in history.
You do not have to complete this task at once, this can be done over a series of lessons and you can refer back to it any anytime when you have completed the tasks set for you in the lessons.
Using the knowledge you have gathered throughout your time at Brooklands Farm. Can you compare the Anglo-Saxons to another period of history you have learnt about. You must construct a way to present your information. This could be done through a table, a piece of writing or another way you can think of. You must discuss the similarities and differences between the two periods and categorise your information into topics such as farming, daily life, society etc. Remember to explain why you consider these features to be similar or different.
Can you create your own knowledge log to recap all the important knowledge you have gained from your unit on the Anglo-Saxons? This should be split into different features such as society, famous figures, key terms etc. This will help you to know more, remember more and can always be referred back to.
You have already looked at two examples of primary evidence which was used to find out more about the Anglo-Saxons; the Sutton Hoo ship burial and the Staffordshire hoard. Can you compare the two and explain which you think was more significant for developing our understanding of the Anglo-Saxons and how they lived?
As an extra challenge, can you think of an example of another primary source of evidence which you have studied about a previous unit in history. In what ways were these similar and different? Do you think primary sources value changes depending on how old they are?
