Summary
In this module we will be exploring Pop Art through the eyes of a printer. We will be looking at famous artists from history to see the impact of how Pop art has influenced the medium of printing as well as the techniques and subjects used.
Media and materials
In this sequence of lessons we will have the opportunity to use card and more traditional printing tools, like ink rollers and print blocks, to create original designs that have been inspired by the greats. Our finished pieces will have features such as bright colours, recognisable imagery and repeated patterns.
Thinking like an artist
Throughout this scheme of work we will challenging our idea of what artwork is. We shall try to use subject specific vocabulary to reflect on our creations, while also considering the impact and emotions our designs may achieve. We will also try to draw connections between our finished pieces and those of other artists from the past who have had a heavy influence on Pop Art both in America and Britain.
