THE PROCESS

The Brother LB5000 is a 2-in-1 sewing and 4x4 embroidery machine that allows you to embroider and sew with ease. View your embroidery designs in full color on the large, 3.2" Sew Smart color LCD touch screen display, and preview your design edits on the screen, before stitching. Expanded embroidery design editing features include the ability to change individual thread colors, place lettering in an arc, move designs on the touch screen display with the touch of a finger, and much more. Choose from 80 fresh, inspiring embroidery designs built in or import your own designs through the USB port. Sewing features include 103 versatile built-in sewing stitches, needle up/down and variable speed controls and drop feed for creative free-motion sewing. Included are 7 quick-change sewing feet, with spring action zigzag, buttonhole, overcasting, monogramming, zipper, blind stitch and button sewing feet. The spring action zigzag foot is designed with a longer foot, and, combined with the longer 7-point feed dogs, help provide smoother fabric feeding.

THE SOFTWARE AND SUPPORTED FILETYPES

The Brother LB5000 is our newest machine and it came to Maker Space in February 2021 funded by a generous donation from an anonymous member of our Brookfield Community.  The LB5000 allows users to sew beautiful projects from start to finish and add elegant embroidery embellishments with 103 built-in sewing stitches, 80 built-in embroidery designs and 9 built-in fonts. 

The Brother LB5000 can use the built in software or embroider  custom made PES files created on Sew Art in Room 238.

COST

• All materials, machines and machine time are included as part of academic study and growth.  All projects that are required for a class have NO cost.

• For individual ideas and projects created outside of school requirements there is a nominal cost for materials and machine time. For CNC Sewing and Embroidery:  

  • • $5.00 for setup and the first 5,000 stitches

    • $1.00 per 1,000 stitches thereafter

    • Materials may vary in cost.  (i.e. shirts, sweatshirts, etc.  )

    • You may purchase materials from Maker Space for a nominal fee or provide your own materials approved by the Maker Space Staff.  NOTE:  Maker Space Staff cannot be responsible for damage done to patron provided materials.

  • You will get a price quote before your file is printed and jobs must be paid for before they are completed.
