Are you interested in pursuing a career in business or entrepreneurship? Check out the information on this website to learn more about Ohio Business Week, which will be held at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio from July 18-24.
For 32 years, Ohio Business Week has been a residential week long program held at a host university but due to the continuing pandemic, we found that there is little benefit to bringing 150 students from around the state to one location. So, we have decided to hold the program regionally using partner satellite locations around the state. Students will still get to make new friends and develop a product complete with a business plan, financials and marketing materials within their group. They will hear from successful business owners, CEO's and leaders as they will video conference into every location.
With the elimination of the housing component, we have lowered the cost to participate to $299. We are hoping this will allow more students the ability to experience OBW for 2021.
I have updated all of our materials and they have been uploaded to www.ohiobusinessweek.org/media for you to download, print or share with students and parents. You can also click here for more information!
We are excited to announce the first round of host locations for Ohio Business Week this summer. We are not holding the traditional residential camp for students at Ohio University but rather meeting in small groups near the student's hometowns, along with a lowered cost of $299. The following locations have been confirmed but are subject to change based on student demand. Each location will have a max capacity of 12 students so once it's full and if there are no additional locations close, additional students will be placed on a waitlist.
The John Carroll University Young Writers Workshop (YWW), a week-long summer camp at John Carroll University, is now accepting applications. Both day and residential options are available, so students from anywhere can experience and learn inspiring and rigorous creative writing. This year's workshop takes place from July 19 to July 23, 2021. Here's a video about our program. For more information about the JCU YWW, please visit sites.jcu.edu/yww. If you're wondering about the student experience, read how 2017 YWW alum and now JCU student, Julia Kashuba, enjoyed her time with YWW:
I attended the Youth Writers Workshop in the summer of 2017 as an incoming high school senior. I grew so much as a writer since then, and the program definitely sparked a new understanding of writing in me. It helped me to reach depths that I hadn't reached before and to learn many new tactics regarding both poetry and prose. As a current JCU student, I can easily say that the YWW was what made me realize that John Carroll is the right place for me, and will be my home for the next chapter of my life. The YWW opened up so many opportunities for me, including making connections with the faculty and staff, receiving a scholarship for my writing, and currently being enrolled in a training course to become a JCU Writing Center consultant! I still keep in touch with some of the people I met during the workshop, and I see a couple of them around campus all the time. At the YWW, you will meeting people that will inspire you to follow your passions, you will feel a new connection with John Carroll's beautiful and serene campus, and you will be able to work on yourself as a writer and creative soul!
In 2021, we are presently considering offering both online and in-person options, with a possible overnight option. Students are able to let us know their preference on the application form!
