We evaluated the impact of the Brookes VLE template on S1 23-24 modules.
As a response to feedback we have contracted a third-party to carry out the rollover of content from previous years into academic Moodle courses that start in January 2024.
The third-party will:
Roll over content from previous academic years into the academic Moodle courses that start in September 2023 (based on the information provided in the faculty spreadsheets)
Import sections and placeholders of the template as they appear on the skeleton course.
Re-order and merge content to fit into the template sections using their professional judgement.
Preserve the structure of the weekly content and headings.
Contact the project team and the respective faculty learning technologist (DMeLD) should any issues arise during the rollover.
The third-party will not:
Do Moodle course design in academic courses.
Fix accessibility issues in the courses.
Decrease the scrolling in each course by putting long pieces of text, contact info or media into separate Moodle Pages.
Rename Moodle activities and uploaded files that have been carried over with the rollover.
Add the reading list to a course if the Reading List activity wasn't in the previous year that was used for the rollover.
Add meta-links between two courses to bring student enrolments from one course to another.
Roll over: Announcements, Module Evaluations from last year, Turnitin Assignments, Attendance, Zoom and Panopto LTI activities.
Update dates pertaining to activities e.g. deadlines, open/close dates, restrict access from/to.
Module leaders should:
Check that the course content is in the right place and everything in the course looks as it should once the rolled over Moodle modules have been handed back to them.
Create any necessary meta-links between two versions of the same modules (e.g. OBO and DL).
Check that the September 2023 run of their course have the new version of the reading list link if the rollover process has carried the old version from a previous year. If that's the case the old version should be replaced with the new version. We will update this in due course with more detail on what Module Leaders need to do.
Verify dates in new course. Any date restrictions or deadlines will have been brought across as part of the rollover but may not be configured correctly. Check the dates for any activities that use deadlines and open/close dates; if you've previously restricted access to sections and/or content based on dates then these dates will need to be checked too.
Check their uploaded content and fix accessibility issues reported by Blackboard Ally.
