We evaluated the impact of the Brookes VLE template on S1 23-24 modules.
This project aims to ensure that all students and staff have equitable access to an inclusive, digital learning environment.
The projects' objective is to embed the Brookes' framework for digitally enabled teaching and learning (Coherence, Community, Consistency, Choice) in the VLE, Moodle.
To do this we have conducted research across the sector and at Brookes, and investigated the user experience (UX) of academic modules in Moodle. Findings have informed the design of a course template to be adopted across the institution.
A course template is a pre-determined course layout and style, which can be edited to produce the required learning experience. A template will indicate where specific course elements are to be inserted (for example the Module Handbook, or assessment information) and may include standard text or images. They are designed to save time (the layout doesn't have to be set up from scratch each time) and to provide Consistency for students, which is one of the key principles our framework for digitally-enabled programmes at Oxford Brookes. Templates make the population, navigation and content creation for Moodle easier for all users - staff and students.
