Our Digital Strategy (2023-2028) sets out how Oxford Brookes can make a step change in the way we will use digital to help deliver the 2035 University Strategy.
When we say ‘digital’, it can mean different things to different people. To some it means using technologies to bring people together, to make things simpler, easier and more convenient. For others it means using data and technology to design better solutions. For Oxford Brookes, it means both of these things.
This strategy sets out how Oxford Brookes will use digital to enhance our student and staff experience to continue to: deliver world leading education and research; ensure our students are equipped for their future careers; and, create an environment that is inclusive and accessible where our people have access to what they need to be successful. In the University, this should look like more opportunities for hybrid teaching and life long learning. In the community, it looks like using digital to maximise partnerships and knowledge exchange to reinforce the University’s commitment to the local and global community.
The strategy will evolve alongside our university priorities and is designed to allow us to respond to new opportunities that emerge. For the coming 18 months our priorities will be: getting the basics right and keeping it fresh; equipping our students and staff with the digital skills they need to be successful; and, integrating our systems to make it easier for them to navigate and find the information when and where we need it. In addition we will continue to support the delivery of the University’s Turnaround Programme.
We will take a student and staff first approach to deliver the strategy, ensuring those who are impacted are involved in the design and delivery of initiatives. As part of this we will also build off the significant work that is already in train, including VCG’s Turnaround Programme and a complete redesign and install of a new network to improve our internet connectivity and wifi . We are working with world leading providers like Amazon Web Services and Google to move our infrastructure to the cloud, and Microsoft who are all supporting our Cloud first approach. In addition we will continuously improve our cyber security, threat, detect and response services.
We all have a role to play to ensure this strategy is successful. This means ongoing and sustainable investment in our people and digital environment during and beyond the life of this strategy. For each of us, it means seizing opportunities to build our skills and confidence to effectively use and innovate within the digital environment.
This strategy has been developed with input from across the university, and we would like to thank all those involved to date. We think this strategy reflects the diverse range of experience, and aims to help everyone take a step up, while supporting those areas leading from the front to continue to grow in their capability, innovation and ambition
