Learning the Māori Alphabet
When we were learning our story Te Ika ā Māui we wanted to make sure we were pronouncing all the reo correctly.
We learnt that the letters in the Māori alphabet make different sounds to the English alphabet.
When we asked some teachers and kids at school if they knew the alphabet most people said they only knew a little bit. When we asked about their confidence with pronunciation most people said they only felt 3 out of 5 or less.
We wanted to make something to teach other kids and some teachers too about the alphabet and how to make the sounds correctly.
We used Sketches School and Book Creator to make our book.
