Below is some examples of the text work I did to help me break down the language and Nelly's intentions. I found it very helpful to note down any questions I had about Nelly's intentions along the way. Asking questions about my character is how I work best I discovered as I through acting out the scenes I slowly begin to answer my questions. Annotating my script also help me externalise a lot of the thoughts I had about Nelly and particular moments int he scene. So I didn't just note down my objectives, actions and units but any other thoughts I had on the scene. I found untiting a really good way to break down each scene particularly with all the prop cues I had and allowed me to memorise the order of events better, particularly as some scenes are really long and they have sub-scenes. Analysing the text use a tool I used throughout the rehearsal process to structure my discoveries.
