Course Objectives: Common Core English Language Arts Standards for reading, writing, speaking, and listening grades 11-12.
Texts Used: Students will receive materials and handouts from various textbooks, including Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes: The American Experience, Media Literacy, and Communication Applications. Students will also read various articles, short stories, and other texts. Novels may include Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Course Description
English/Language Arts IV (12th grade) courses blend composition and literature into a cohesive whole as students write critical and comparative analyses of selected literature, continuing to develop their language arts skills. Typically, students primarily write multi-paragraph essays but may also write one or more major research papers.
