At Brilliant Microschool, assessments should inform instruction, gauge student understanding, and guide pedagogical modifications. We focus on formative rather than summative assessment (i.e., we prioritize low-stakes feedback provided in the early and middle stages of learning over high-stakes exam scores arriving at the end).

We recognize the need for quantitative data, such as for college applications. Therefore, we provide both qualitative and quantitative information in our report cards, including power standards assessment, teacher comments, and letter grades.
