Homework

Homework Policy

Your child will have homework nightly in 3rd grade.  Homework will usually consist of a nightly math worksheet, reading and whatever they may not have finished in class.  Students are given ample time to complete work during class, so if they are bringing home unfinished work for homework, it’s because they aren’t making good use of class time.  Reading homework will vary and can include student choice reading for their reading log, or I may send home Scholastic News for their reading homework. Homework shouldn’t take more than 45 minutes each night.  If your child is struggling with homework assignments either in content or just being too much, please let me know. Obviously, there are times when your child can't come to school.  I am happy to help them get the assignments they missed, but the responsibility of completing them is on them. The Briggsdale school make up work policy is as follows for students who miss school.

By Briggsdale School Policy, work may be made up for excused absences.  The policy states that students may have 1 day for each day missed plus 1 additional day.  For example, if a student has 2 days of excused absences, then they will have 3 days to make it up.
