The theme for our summer sector talk was alternative healthcare careers, to inform students about lesser-known job roles that exists in the sector. We had three speakers on our panel, all working in non-clinical roles healthcare. In addition to this, a representative from New City College delivered a presentation about their new Health T-Level course.
Students worked in teams with UBS volunteers on a series of sustainability challenges related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The insight day has been developed with the East London Business Alliance (ELBA).
The aim was to demonstrate an entrepreneurial attitude and harness their skills in order to develop a business idea. Develop their entrepreneurial skills by engaging in a challenge related to the Sustainable Development Goals. Improve their understanding of how the financial sector functions by interacting with UBS employees. Showcase the practical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a team challenge including communication, teamwork, problem solving and presentation skills.
Super-curricular is a term used by the most selective universities and involves students participating in activities that directly relate to their subject or career interests. The Year 12 Super Curricular Day allowed students to independently plan a whole day out in London. Students visited a broad range of places throughout the city, including The Old Bailey, BFI Library, Grayling PR Agency, Arsenal, Mace Construction, The Olympic Park, The Tate Galleries and many, many more!
At the start of the term, the whole of Year 10 and 12 went out into the world for a week of work experience. Students took up opportunities at UBS, Hackney Council, UCL Lab, Splice Post post-production company, St James Hotel and many more.
