In Year 11 students will have to make decisions about how they are going to continue with education or training after their GCSEs; this is know as Post 16 Destination. Whether considering Apprenticeships, College or Sixth Form, students must make sure they are informed to make a choice that’s right for them. The resources below have been selected to support with this decision making process.
The Government has increased the age to which all young people in England must continue in education or training. This means young people must continue in education or training until They are 18. It does not mean they must stay in school; they can choose one of the following options:
Full-time education, such as school, college or learning provider
Work-based learning, such as an apprenticeship or traineeship
Part-time education or training if you are employed, self-employed or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week
