Nuffield Foundation / STEM Learning - Nuffield Experience and Research Placements – for year 12’s – Closing 1st April
Nuffield Experience Placements - These are a 5-day exploration with industry experts to identify essential skills needed for employment in STEM sectors. While producing a workbook and reflective report, students gain insight into working in professional environments and knowledge of the challenges for different sectors, preparing them for employment. The placements take place in various locations, including offices, museums, research centres, laboratories or fieldwork settings. Placements will take place in summer 2026 and students can participate at no cost. All students will receive a placement payment of £135 per week to cover costs such as travel expenses. https://www.stem.org.uk/placements

In2STEM – In2STEM programme – for year 12’s – Starts June/July - Closing 5th April
The In2STEM programme is a free summer programme which includes, live online skills, careers and employability workshops and a one or two week in-person work experience placement hosted by a STEM professional, allowing students a unique glimpse into careers in a STEM field. There is also a public engagement competition, giving students the opportunity to express their creative side, share their newly-developed knowledge and win prizes.
The programme placements and activities will take place between Monday 20th July and Friday 21st August 2026. The in-person placements, live online workshops, and competitions will be scheduled at specific times throughout this five-week period. Participants will also be invited to a Student Induction event, between June and early July and a celebration event in September or October. Open Learn - Managing my money for young adults - Level 1 Introductory short course
Managing your money really is a true skill for life. This free Open University course will provide the confidence and tools to be in control whether still studying at school or college, starting work or an apprenticeship or going to university. Participants will learn how to make their money work harder and go further. It covers areas such as; how to choose and manage bank and savings accounts, how to finance further and higher education studies, budget effectively, borrow sensibly and manage debts effectively and planning ahead to make goals financially achievable. Target Cambridge and Imperial is a programme run in collaboration between the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and diversity specialists Rare. The aim is to provide students of Black African and Caribbean heritage with insight into student life and information on how to make a competitive application to these top universities. UCL – Envision Programme – for year 10 students of black heritage – Starting 29th April - Closing 13th April
Envision is an opportunity exclusively for students of Black African and Black Caribbean heritage who want to explore what university could be like. Designed to inform, inspire, and empower, participants will take part in interactive sessions across the programme to help them understand how university works. These sessions also support them in developing the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to succeed beyond school.
The Envision programme starts with an online introductory session on 29th April followed by three in-person events taking place across three Saturdays, in May, June and July, on the UCL Bloomsbury campus in central London. All events are free to attend and a packed lunch will be provided. There will also be an online information session for parents and carers. Sound and Music – In the Making 2026 Artist Development Programme – for ages 14 – 18 – Closing 20th April
In the Making is a year-long program for young artists aged 14-18. It is for all young people and all types of music: beats, songs, sound art, classical, experimental, electronic, and everything in-between. It starts with a week-long summer residential, 26th – 31st July where students spend six days at the University of Huddersfield in an intensive and inspiring creative environment surrounded by fellow young music makers. This is followed by 12 months of online development, mentoring, peer support, and career guidance. Students don't need prior experience, formal training, music qualifications, the ability to read or write traditional music notation or knowledge of production software or working with live musicians. UCL East - Creative Arts Holiday Club: Plays and Performance – for years 9 & 10 – 26th & 27th May – Closing 14th May
This free two day programme, led by tutors working on UCL’s Creative Arts and Humanities degree programme, brings together creative writing, moving image and performance to help students develop skills spanning storytelling to critical thinking. Students will try out hands-on scene work and theatrical approaches, using their imagination, voice and body to respond to words on the page. They will learn new ways to express ideas and emotions through words, sounds, and performance and see how others have brought play texts to life on stage, film and digital media. This will be a fun and rewarding two days, building confidence and giving students the chance to think creatively, try out new skills and work with others.
