Wi-Fi Access

In order for Chromebooks to work at their peak efficiency they need to be connected to the internet via a wi-fi signal. This connection can be made using a variety of methods.

-1- Connect to home wi-fi. Many families have access to local area networks that will allow the Chromebook to access the internet.

-2- Cell phone hot spot. Many parents have cell phones with unlimited data. Allowing students to access a hotspot from the phone will provide access for students to be able to work from home. A benefit to this option is that parents can easily turn of the hotspot feature on the phone eliminating late night use of the Chromebook.

-3- Local businesses and libraries. Our community has many businesses and public libraries that allow people to connect to the internet for free using their network.

If cost is an issue for internet access the Bremerton School District has partnered with Comcast to provide discounted internet for homes. Please access the attached flyer below for information.

The Bremerton School District has also supplied a limited number of hotspots that run through Verizon wireless at no cost to families that qualify. The hoptspot will provide 250 megabytes of data per day for students to be able to use their Chromebooks for school work. If you are interested in applying for a free hoptspot please contact the office for an application. Once the Application is returned, approval from the principal must be obtained. If approval is granted a hotspot will be checked out a for use at home for the year. At the end of the school year the device will be returned.
