There are a few ways to find up to date information. Many classes use Google Classroom to assign classwork and to share daily essential questions and information about homework. You are welcome to ask your child to show you his/ her classrooms. On the front page is a feed (kind of like facebook) where information is shared and compiled chronologically. If you click on the Classwork tab across the top you can see categories may include agenda and assignments. Information about due dates can be found when you click on the assignment. If the assignment just has a date it is an agenda item and is intended to just share information.
The Bremerton School District utilizes student management system called Skyward that provides students and parents the ability to see up-to-date grades for all classes in which their student is enrolled. Students are provided with their login information near the start of each school year and parents can get their own access to Skyward by contacting our counseling office. Skyward login information was also mailed home with the demographic update form in the fall. Parents are able to get their Skyward login information during student conferences as well as by going to the district office with picture identification.
Students have access to Google Calendar. This app allow students to view all assignments that have been entered into Google Classrooms. This app can be found in their apps or by going to Google.com and clicking on the "Waffle" (nine small boxes in the upper right-hand corner). The calendar app should be available along with the other apps that the district has provided for the students in the Googlesphere. Students have access to this on most electronic devices and can get the information in real time.
Most students have the ability to e-mail teachers and receive responses back. We are experiencing minor issues getting all students access but we are working on remedying the issues. Parents can e-mail teachers by sending messages to their district e-mail. The format the staff is firstname.lastname@bremertonschools.org. If you do not know your child's teacher's full name you can visit the staff sites page by clicking here. Each teacher should have contact information on their site.
All of our staff have access to telephones at the school. If you choose to contact a teacher by phone a voicemail can be made if the teacher is unavailable to take the call. The voicemails can be accessed by the teacher on the school phone or through their e-mail. Each teacher has their own line which was probably shared in a letter that was sent home at the beginning of the semester. If you do not have access to their phone number please call (360) 473-0600 so your call can be transferred to the classroom.
If you are confused or need assistance please contact the teacher as soon as possible so issues can be resolved with the least amount of frustration. If your child comes home and tells you something that seems outrageous or does not make sense contacting the teacher directly frequently clarifies the situation so all people involved can get a real picture of the situation. Inquiring about a situation at the lowest level usually gets the quickest solution because all of the information is managed by the people who were involved.
