We have a wide range of workshops on offer throughout the middle block. Most sessions run for 55 minutes with a 10 minute break in between to find your next workshop and so our ECE colleagues can switch places.

Understanding Trauma in the Classroom
This session focuses on what trauma is and how it can look in the classroom. Furthermore, it will introduce the theoretical framework regarding what happens in the brain. It also aims to provide basic strategies that can be done to support tamariki within the classroom environment. Amoné is an Educational Psycologist and Teressa is a Special Education Advisor.

Mana Model & Student Engagement
Students thrive at school when they are connected to their culture, feel a sense of belonging at school, and experience a synergy between their family, community, and school lives. The Mana Model proposes that schools are an influential space to harness and transform students’ motivation, knowledge, skills, capabilities, and interests.
This workshop will introduce you to Melinda Webber’s Mana Model and how we might consider the components of the Mana Model in our teaching practice.

Melinda is a local Waipu artist who also offers counselling/therapy to adults, adolescents, and young children. She is passionate about supporting positive mental health.

During this session you will have the opportunity to explore the website that has been created to collate many Te Reo Māori teaching and learning resources. These resources are split into year group sections. We will look at what is expected to be taught at each year level and how it builds on previous year levels.

In this workshop, teachers will learn more about the Garden to Table (GTT) program and how it enriches learning. They'll discover ways to support GTT in their school, and find useful resources on the GTT online portal for enhancing their teaching and promoting healthy eating habits in their classrooms.
