New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) is a global partnership that works to transform the role of teachers to that of educators who design experiences that build global competencies using real-life problem solving; and supports learning communities to shift practice and how to measure learning in authentic ways.
Bream Bay College has been a member since 2016. Deep learning pedagogies drive our curriculum.
Global Competencies at the center of the system provide clarity about what it means to be a Deep Learner. When the right learning conditions and powerful new pedagogies come together, deep learning is the result. NPDL’s Deep Learning Progressions help teachers measure and develop their students’ deep learning competencies.
The four elements of learning design provide a process that makes it easy for teachers, students, leaders, and families to shift their thinking and practices.
To help teachers embed the instructional practices that enable deep learning, NPDL developed a Learning Design Template and Learning Design Coaching Tool to support the design of deep learning experiences. After implementing new experiences, teachers’ measure their effectiveness with the Learning Design Rubric.
Most of these resources are also available, along with a lot of other information and support, from the NPDL Global Hub.
