The Intercultural Language Education Study Group is a community of teaching professionals dedicated to enhancing language learning through cultural exploration, creativity, and critical thinking.
How does it work?
The coordinators of the study group select cutting-edge texts about a wide range of intercultural language education aspects and together, in our monthly meetings we try to link theory to practice. Our conversations are usually enriching as we all contribute with different opinions based on our life experiences.
When are the meetings?
We meet online on the last Friday of every month from 8 am to 9 am via Google Meet. Prior to each meeting we will send you the text we will be discussing as well as some thinking routines to help you dive deeper on your reading.
What is our goal?
The study group aims to foster openness towards cultural differences, interpret cultural products, develop skills to observe and analyse cultural practices respectfully, and encourage critical cultural awareness by reflecting on our own cultural assumptions and biases. Our final outcome is not only to be updated on current ELT trends, but also grow as a professional, and consequently enhance the learning experience for our students.
