Pockets and Features

Big Idea: Bags can be developed to better solve the needs of their users through the addition of bespoke features which are designed for specific purposes.

External Pocket - a simple flat fold which has been created to allow the user to carry things on the outside of their bag

Internal Zipper Pocket - This is a more complicated addition. It allows for more security. Designers interested in this pocket type should imagine that they are creating a mini-Hip Sling bag inside their larger bag.

Internal or External Clips - Clips can be added to bags to hold keys and other important items. Carabiner clips are available at Daiso and other shops for this use.

Internal Open Pocket - a simple flat fold which has been created to allow the user to carry things on the inside of their bag

External Bungee Attachments- Small loops of extra webbing can be used to add bungee attachments on the outside of a product. Be aware of your seam allowance when attaching these features.

Creative Features - Additional features can be added based on the needs of the user, the creativity of the designer, and the skill of the maker. Talk to your teacher.
