Magical Girl Mad Scientist

Project description

The ask was for short form videos that could highlight STEM products, and feature different CAMP store locations during covid, when not many customers would be able to visit the stores in person.

I pitched, conceived, scripted and produced the Magical Girl Mad Scientist series which focused on experiments from low-selling science related inventory; when this content was featured in the newsletter, it led to 20 units being sold in the same week.

Working closely with the director of photography, editor, and social teams, each video consisted of a scripted 2-4 minute YouTube video, shorter 30-60 second versions for Instagram, and even short >15s highlight "teaser" videos for TikTok, optimized for engagement. The "Forced Perspective" episode included an explainer article with the video embedded.

The forced perspective concept tied into Camp's social media campaign at the time, which focused on the theme of playing with relative size.

The first and second of the series were filmed in the same afternoon on at Camp's Columbus Circle location. We filmed during store hours, and worked with the staff to figure out a situation we the film crew could shoot what was needed, without being a hinderance to store operations.

First of the series. Initial intent was to feature the Pop Bottle Science kit across several videos, but by the second video, the item was almost sold out.
