Bataan Peninsula State University's acceptance into the AUN serves as a catalyst for its ongoing quest for excellence and innovation in higher education. With steadfast commitment and unwavering determination, the university remains dedicated to nurturing future generations of leaders, scholars, and global citizens who would shape the future of Southeast Asia and beyond.
The ASEAN University Network (AUN) was established in 1995 with the aim of fostering regional identity and solidarity through education. It serves as a crucial platform for the region's premier higher education institutions to collaborate and share knowledge.
In order for BPSU to be eligible for the AUN Associate Membership, there must be at least two (2) representatives of the university to undergo and learn the AUN-QA Systems (AUN_QA Tier 1 Training). Dr. Emmanuel Macaraeg and Dr. Jesselyn Mortejo attended the Workshop for Accomplishing Program Assessment which enabled them to fully understand the facets of AUN-QA System. Through QUAO's great initiative, the pushing through of attaining the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Associate Membership came into reality.
BPSU, being an Associate Member of the AUN-QA, is now part of a network widely recognized for its role in improving the quality of education in ASEAN member universities and in enhancing the capacity of ASEAN human resources.

18th Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Tier II
The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), through its Quality Assurance Office, proudly marked another milestone in advancing its quality assurance capabilities as it participated in the 18th Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Programme Assessment (Tier 2 Training) held from March 20–23, 2025. The university was represented by Dr. Jesselyn C. Mortejo, Director of the Quality Assurance Office, whose involvement highlights BPSU’s dedication to pursuing continuous improvement and global benchmarking.
This year’s workshop gathered 45 participants from 31 institutions across five countries, reaffirming the expanding commitment of ASEAN higher education institutions to uphold excellence in quality assurance. The training featured an intensive three-day program facilitated by renowned AUN-QA experts—Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eric Wibisono, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ornlatcha Sivarak—who provided participants with comprehensive insights into the AUN-QA Programme Assessment (PA) approach, assessor competencies, and best practices in evaluating academic programs.
A significant highlight of the workshop was the participants’ observation of the 450th AUN-QA Programme Assessment, graciously hosted by De La Salle University (DLSU). This exposure allowed attendees to witness firsthand the application of AUN-QA principles in an actual assessment setting, offering valuable perspectives on panel coordination, evidence-based evaluation, and constructive feedback mechanisms.
For BPSU, Dr. Mortejo’s active participation reinforces the university’s ongoing efforts to elevate its internal quality assurance processes and align them with international standards. Her involvement in this advanced tier of assessor training contributes to enhancing institutional readiness for future AUN-QA engagements and strengthens BPSU’s pursuit of academic excellence.
BPSU extends its appreciation to DLSU for hosting the programme assessment, to the distinguished AUN-QA coaches for their expertise, and to all institutions that took part in this meaningful initiative. The university remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate a culture of quality and global competitiveness across all its programs and services.
