 Adviser: Mr. Garred Oldham

Competitions

Competition is one of the best ways to practice skills you will need in your future. Examples include case studies, role plays, business plans and pitches, advertising presentations, market research plans, virtual simulations, stock market challenges and more.

"My favorite part of being an adviser is watching students grow not only their public speaking and networking skills, but also as young and creative leaders of tomorrow. DECA also travels a ton and taking students on their first airplane ride is always super fun!" - DECA Adviser Garred Oldham

Joining DECA

Students must be enrolled in marketing class with Mr. Oldham, OR be in Intro to Business or Personal Finance with Ms. Dodds. Students pay their dues at the beginning of the semester in which they have a marketing class to Mr. Oldham. All students who have second semester only classes are welcome to join early so they can participate first semester. DECA has a competition, event, and learning opportunity for all who join. Those who join as freshman are 71% more likely to stay in DECA all four years of high school.

"It has given me more life goals and responsibility and helped with leadership. Not only did it teach me how to work with others but also be independent.  My favorite thing was meeting all the new people and getting an insight on the professional life." -Cadence Shelton (2024 Graduate)

"DECA is an organization that prepares students for the career world by teaching the importance of management, entrepreneurship, and marketing. My favorite part of DECA was the family I made I wouldn't have thought twice about the program if it wasn't for them." -Kaitlynn Craig (2024 Graduate)
