Office of Vocational Rehabilitation

I would like to share information with you about the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and provide your son/daughter the opportunity to meet with our OVR counselor and open an OVR case.

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is a state agency that supports students with disabilities in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment. Services are individualized, free to eligible individuals, and may include, but are not limited to:

• Pre-Employment Transition Services

• Vocational Counseling and Guidance

• Funding for Post-secondary Education/Training

• Restoration Services

• Job Placement Assistance

• Assistive Technology

• Support Services

• A 40-hour paid, work-based learning experience in the community
  
  

Students in grades 9–12 also have the opportunity to participate in OVR Early Reach presentations, which focus on skills for independent living such as self-advocacy, budgeting, and OVR 101. During their final year of school, students may open an OVR case to access individualized services.

To begin this process, the OVR-244 release form must be completed before a meeting can be scheduled with the OVR counselor or services can be provided. I have attached the release form, as well as a letter from our OVR counselor, Jamie Kenrick, for your review.
