School Bus Availability:

We offer free transportation and/or program fees to schools that have a certain percentage of Economically Disadvantaged students, thanks to a grant from Cummings Foundation. Most Boston schools meet our guidelines.

Take the MBTA Bus 96 from Harvard Square or Davis Square (both on the Red Line) to the “George Street and Main Street”

Belinda's Footsteps: Sugar, Slavery and Survival

This engaging school program introduces students to slavery in colonial New England with an interactive activity on the triangle trade and its effect on products, people, and purses.

Recommended Grade Levels: 3-8Capacity: 30Time: 60 to 75 minutesCost: $75 for one session, $100 for two sessions scheduled during one school visit. Contact education@royallhouse.org for pricing for three or more sessions scheduled for one school visit. A limited number of admission fee waivers is available.

Parallel Lives: Life and Work on a Northern Plantation

Explore daily life in 1758 from the differing perspectives of Mary and Elizabeth Royall and enslaved Joseph and Prine. Themes of work and wealth on the large country estate of Ten Hills Farm are explored using archeology and household objects. Parallel Lives includes a tour of the house and grounds, artifact exploration, and game making.

Recommended Grade Levels: 3-12Capacity: 50 (30-day advance reservations are required)Time: 2 HoursCost: Up to 14 students: $100 |15 – 29 students: $175 | 30 – 45 students: $275 | 46 – 50 students: $6 for each additional student. Teachers and aides are free, along with 1 chaperone for every 12 students. Additional adults are $7 each. A limited number of admission fee waivers is available.
