About Library Services
The Library Services Department strives to:
- Provide leadership to schools and departments to ensure that students equitably access information literacy/guided inquiry learning opportunities;
- Work closely with school leaders to build capacity and support school communities around library/learning commons pedagogy;
- Enhance equitable access to digital, multimedia, and print resources to foster the infusion of 21st century learning skills into the learning environment.
- Provide professional development for school faculties and library team members to support their work as effective teachers and digital/information literacy leaders;
- Act as a liaison between BPS Library Services, BPS departments, local libraries, and public, non-profit and private organizations.

Materials for Day 3 Session "No Library? BPS Library Services Support"
Session Description: Whether or not your school has a library, the DESE School Library Content Specific Indicators provide a snapshot of the college & career ready skills & "best practices" that impact student learning. Based on these indicators, this session provides examples of levels of support for striving for equitable library program access for your school community. This includes BPS Library Services supports and learning tools for schools such as faculty PD on Guided Inquiry/Project Based Learning, leveraging volunteers to renew libraries, and connecting the school community with BPL resources.
Materials for Day 3 Session "Academic Impact: Assessing School Libraries and Personnel"
Session Description: The DESE School Library Content Specific Indicators is a tool to evaluate effective school library programs and library staff. Models of measuring college & career ready, guided inquiry and personalized learning skills that integrate with a school's instructional focus are featured. This includes project based "best practices" and "student look fors" that foster curiosity and academic success.
