The Red and Black is flying proudly this week as our Girls Basketball Team claimed the State Sectional Title, our Drama Club put forth final preparations to present Footloose, we witnessed our students' enthusiasm for reading as our district partook in Read Across America festivities, we celebrated our March Staff Member of the Month, and more! It is now 100 years since Helen Dunn wrote the treasured lyrics to our school song, and it most assuredly remains a special time to be a Bomber. Our students, staff, and community continue to build upon our proud legacy and we once again share our thanks for the support that is continuously offered to make it happen. Thank you!

As this week brought forth our first snow day, I hope students enjoyed time for snowmen, outdoor fun, and time to take in the winter scenes while the snow lasted. As we look forward to spring, there are some important calendar updates to share, and they are included below. Thank you for taking the time to review these updates and to explore the highlights in this week's bulletin.

ACME STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Boonton Public Schools is proud to share that Sheila Barrientos has been selected as our March Staff Member of the Month! Ms. Barrientos is a sixth grade English language arts teacher and a lifelong learner who is always implementing new strategies to best support students in her classroom. She enlivens learning experiences through the infusion of instructional games, social and emotional learning check-ins, Socratic seminars, and student-led research projects. Ms. Barrientos also prioritizes the importance of celebrating student accomplishments and leads enthusiastic "hallway huddles" to help students set goals and to joyfully recognize goal attainment. Beyond the 6th grade team, Ms. Barrientos spreads Boonton Bomber pride throughout John Hill School and the community while also leading students in activities to celebrate and honor our country as advisor of the Stars and Stripes Club. Thank you, Ms. Barrientos, for your extraordinary work with students, your efforts that extend well beyond your classroom walls, and for all the pride you bring to the community!

DRAMA CLUB

Join us for Boonton High School Drama Club's presentation of Footloose the Musical.

March 3rd @ 7pm
March 4th @ 7 pm
March 5th @ 2 pm

All performances will take place in the Boonton High School Auditorium.

Tickets are $13 for reserved seats, $10 for general admission, and $7 for students.

SCHOOL CALENDARS

At Monday's Board of Education meeting the 2023-2024 District Calendar was approved. Among the qualities of our community that we take great pride in is the diversity of our population. You will see that the coming year's calendar is a reflection of this and is now inclusive of increased consideration of religious observances.

With respect to this school year's calendar, Tuesday's snow day served as our first emergency closing day. March 17th will now remain a regular school day. There are 3 remaining give back days to be allotted as explained below:

If we have zero additional emergency closings, then schools will be closed on the following dates.

April 21 - If we have an additional emergency closing, we will be in session on this date.

May 26 - If we have two additional emergency closings, we will be in session on this date.

June 12 - If we have three additional emergency closings, we will be in session on this date.
