How are courses selected for Production Days?

See course descriptions and requirements, Frequently Asked Questions, and a Sample Syllabus
Do these courses replace any of my required high school graduation credits?
Production day courses are scheduled to allow scholars to experience dual credit opportunities outside the subject areas of normal high school content. These do include opportunities where a scholar may count a dual credit course as a high school course. Please review the dual credit course descriptions guide for the most detailed information.
What does "associate degree category" mean? What if I'm not planning on getting an associate degree?
The Ignite associate degree follows the guidelines set forth by Gateway for the associate of the arts and associate of science degrees. Each of these degrees require coursework in specific categories.
If you are not working toward an associate degree, this category gives a good estimate of how a credit will be counted in the institution you attend after high school. This can be helpful when you are viewing a curriculum contract from the school you plan to attend.
Do these credits transfer?
Kentucky's Council on Post-Secondary Education assures that general education courses completed at public colleges and universities will transfer to other colleges and universities within the state. You can read about this and other transfer legislation here.
If you are planning on attending a private school, or a school outside the state of Kentucky, please review the policies of your institution with your admissions counselor and Dr. Dempsey. We are committed to helping you contact your school, transfer your hours, and provide any documentation that may be needed.
Can this coursework be useful to me even if I don't earn an associate degree?
Yes! Dual credit coursework has a direct correlation to success in pursuing a college degree. Completion of hours can help you graduate in four years or less, make time to pick up a second major or a minor, study abroad, or begin your major courses more quickly.
