How do I know if I am on the associate track?
Students must earn 60 hours of college credit that satisfies the Gateway SMART plan to earn the Associate degree. Students should sign up for the recommended courses according to the SMART plan and Ignite's curriculum guide to earn these 60 hours.
Do I have to pay for this class even though it's a "regular" class in my day?
Yes. Scholars are responsible for tuition for the course as well as textbook fees (via a physical book or an online book requirement). Scholars are earning college credit in addition to high school credit, so they are expected to pay for the course.
For more information on paying for dual credit, please check out this portion of our website.
How are curriculum day (MWF) dual credit classes different from production day (TR) classes?
Curriculum day dual credit courses swap a college class for a traditional high school class whereas production day courses are supplemental to the rest of a student's coursework.
Both curriculum day and production day dual credit courses count on a student's high school transcript and college transcript. Both types of classes affect a scholar's high school and college GPA.
Are curriculum day dual credit (MWF) courses online?
Whenever possible, curriculum day courses are taught by Ignite staff members who are dual credit certified to teach college courses. When staffing does not allow for this, courses are made available online or in-person with college professors. Scholars in an online course are assigned to an Ignite staff member credentialed in the course's content area where they report their progress and get real-time, face-to-face assistance with online coursework.
