From UofL Speed School of Engineering: See flyer above
Leadership Advantage is a five-day, student-led program at the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering, scheduled for July 29 to August 2, 2026. Designed specifically for incoming engineering students, Leadership Advantage offers participants hands-on experience with teamwork, leadership, and practical engineering skills. Through interactive activities, mentorship, and early networking with other future engineers, students gain an invaluable foundation that prepares them for both academic and professional success.
After overcoming the challenges of recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Leadership Advantage is now back and better than ever. In 2023, we successfully relaunched the program with a renewed focus on delivering an impactful, well-structured experience for students. We are thrilled to continue to build on this success in 2026, and we would love for your students to be part of it. We hope you inform your students that anticipate to enroll in the J.B Speed School of Engineering in the fall. Attached is a flier with additional information regarding the program.

From Saint Elizabeth Healthcare:
High School Volunteer Programs
St. Elizabeth Volunteer Services offers an amazing opportunity for high school students to spend 3-4 hours each week providing service to their community while exploring healthcare and the many facets that make up a large organization. Students choose a volunteer placement from a multitude of options either within the hospital or at one of our numerous off-site facilities. Volunteer tasks range from patient contact, assisting staff, retail service or being guest liaisons, all impacting the patients’ experiences at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.

Volunteer at the Petersburg Fire Department:
The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Dept. Boosters has lots of service hours to offer students. We could use help with a multitude of things, everything from painting fire hydrants, to working one of our community events. We have service hours available every Wednesday evening from 6p.m.- 9p.m. We will have a fall festival on October 17 from 2-7, but will need volunteers the day before on Oct. 16 2p.m. - 8p.m. for setting up, and then the day of the event we will need volunteers 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Volunteers are welcome to come at any time and stay for as many hours as they desire. We just ask that they let us know at least 24 hrs in advance, but the further in advance the better.
If they would like to volunteer they can call Ian Steidel 513-748-5931, Booster's Secretary, email us at this address PFDBoosters@gmail.com, or if they have any interest in becoming a junior fire fighter (they have to be 15 yrs or older) they can contact us or go to our website at Petersburgkyfd.org.
