This month we studied nocturnal animals-bats and owls. We used this study to write owl reports and our research on bats to learn about facts vs. opinions. Students created their own bat books and was a great way to learn about following directions and sequencing of pages. Our owl art project also gave us an opportunity to practice following step by step directions in a creative way. We created "Haunted Multiplication Houses" in math as a fun way to practice our multiplication facts. I read The Pumpkin Smasher to the students and as a response to the literature students wrote about their favorite part of the story and had a bit of fun "smashing" their own pumpkin. This gave us an opportunity to practice our grammar skills of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and adding details from a story to our writing. We ended the month with some Picasso witches.
I often get asked what I need for the classroom and I can never think of anything off the top of my head, so I went ahead and put together a classroom wish list. Thank you in advance for considering a classroom donation. I do not take these acts of generosity lightly and I want you to know that I am very appreciative of your support. Thank you, than you!
