Enrollment for Fall 2025 Classes Now Open!
My name is Timothy Guill, and I am a full-time employee at Boise State University. I hold a BA in American History from the University of Idaho, an MA in 20th Century American Military and Diplomatic History from Boise State University, and an MA in Counseling, focusing on addiction and recovery. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I also hold a Graduate Certificate in College Teaching.
I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1998 to 2003. The discipline and dedication I developed during that time laid the foundation for my work as an educator, counselor, and purpose-driven teacher committed to fostering critical thinking and lifelong learning.
I am a lecturer with the University Foundations and History Departments. I was awarded the University Foundations Teaching Award for UF200 Instruction in 2021 and nominated for the Golden Apple Award in Teaching Excellence in Spring 2022. Previously, I worked as a Student Success Advisor for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in the Management Degree Program.
In addition to my role at Boise State, I serve as an adjunct instructor at Lewis-Clark State College. There, I teach courses for residents of correctional facilities in Oregon and Idaho. This unique opportunity allows me to contribute to the education and personal development of individuals in correctional settings, furthering my commitment to inclusive and transformative teaching.
This online portfolio contains my teaching philosophy and statements on my belief in inclusive teaching and the importance of professional development. Also, I've included examples of my teaching, student feedback, and course development practices.
