In health and physical education, having a growth mindset means believing that you can improve your skills and abilities through hard work and practice. It’s okay to make mistakes—they’re part of learning and getting better! Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” try saying, “I can’t do this yet.” Focus on putting in the effort, trying new strategies, and staying positive, even when things feel tough. Remember, every step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals. Keep pushing yourself, and you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve!
This year, students will take part in a range of practical HPE units, including athletics, invasion games, basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, softball, touch and fitness. These units help build skill, teamwork, confidence, and overall hauora.
Year 10 students will also complete one theory lesson per week, covering key HPE topics such as nutrition, biomechanics, training principles, and hauora. They will strengthen their literacy skills through regular blogging and written reflections.
A balanced programme supporting both physical and academic development.
“Always bring your gear and a positive attitude”
“Push yourself, but listen to your body”
“Support your teammates and celebrate effort”
