Kia ora koutou and welcome to our class site!
I'm thrilled to have you in my class this year as we explore Health, Physical Education, and Sports, Coaching and Leadership together at Bay of Islands College.
A little about me:
I’m in my fifth year of teaching and am passionate about helping students achieve their goals both in the classroom and on the field. I grew up in Northland, attending Ohaeawai Primary and Okaihau College, before pursuing my bachelor’s degree at AUT and completing my postgraduate studies at Waikato University.
Sports have always been a big part of my life. I played hockey for 20 years and recently transitioned to volleyball, which has been an exciting new challenge. For the last 2 years, I have been proud to represent the Northland Kauri Women’s A team as a Middle Blocker. In 2024 we competed at Club Nationals and made it into Division 1 for the first time in years—a moment I’ll never forget! Last year we played in Division 2 and just missed out on a medal - coming 4th.
I have also taken up Beach Volleyball and am coaching the school teams as well as the Northland boys U17 and U19 squads.
Outside of school and sport, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and spending time with my dog, Sadie.
I’m looking forward to an amazing year of learning, growth, and teamwork. Let’s make this year one to remember!

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in:
Positive relationships – students learn best when they feel supported and valued.
High expectations – encouraging students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence.
Practical, meaningful learning – especially in HPE and Sports Academy, where hands-on experiences make learning come alive.
Growth mindset & resilience – mistakes are part of progress.
Whanaungatanga – creating environments where students feel connected, respected, and included.
I have been involved in beach volleyball for the past two years and have quickly developed a strong passion for the game. I hold my Level 2 Beach Coaching Certificate and was recently selected to coach the Northland U17/U19 boys team at the 2026 Interprovincial Championships. I am passionate about growing beach volleyball in Northland and creating more opportunities for young athletes to experience, compete, and succeed in this exciting sport.
Bay of Islands College is proud to have students representing Northland in beach volleyball. These students demonstrate outstanding commitment, skill, and sportsmanship as they compete against the best young athletes in the country. Their involvement highlights the growing strength of beach volleyball in our region and reflects the dedication of our students to challenge themselves beyond school sport.
