This term's staff meeting focused on being Cybersmart. Being digitally savvy when you're interacting online is important for everyone, teachers and students alike.
The Cybersmart staff meeting was an opportunity to revisit what this looks like in every day practice. We then discussed ways that teachers could integrate more of the Cybersmart elements from the Cybersmart curriculum.
End of year admin resources for students also featured. Before the end of the school year, students need to make sure their Google Drives are organised and all files are put into subject folders in preparation for Hapara archiving. Additionally, any draft blog posts need to be completed, labelled and published.
There were t0o many events on the school calendar in term two so the Create staff meeting took place in term 3, the week after the country went into the second nationwide lockdown. With teachers taking their classes online, this particular staff meeting was an opportunity to share and discuss ideas on how Create activities can engage students.
The slide deck has a lot of resources and ideas.

Manaiakalani's staff meeting for term 4 began with a celebration of the successful uptake of Learn, Create, Share in the school over the past three years. Twenty seven teachers from the school have now participated on Manaiakalani's Digital Fluency Intensive. The impact of this professional development has seen teaching practice shift to visible online learning for all students across all year levels and subjects. Link to the meeting's photo album.
With our school being in lockdown for the majority of term 2, the Manaiakalani CREATE staff meeting was postponed until term 3. The professional development focus was based on how to amplify and personalise students' digital learning objects DLO. Recent work by Dr Naomi Rosedale of Woolf Fisher shows teachers can accelerate students' understanding and engagement by raising the bar with student's DLOs. Encouraging students to create DLOs as teaching resources helps increase students' understanding
Term one's staff meeting in 2020 was about Learn and inquiring into what Learn looks like at our school. The key aspect of today's meeting was looking at how we could amplify and turbo-charge students learning through the use of digital technologies.
