TOUCH
Touch Rugby is an opportunity for ākonga to test their speed and agility. Understanding the rules can be a challenge for some, but listening attentively as you get involved in the game this will develop ākonga levels of knowledge of Touch. This unit for ākonga is yet another opportunity for them to challenge themselves and raise the confidence and level of ability of those around them. Touch is a team sport and utilising all the members on your team in game play is essential for success.
SOFTBALL
Softball is an opportunity to develop skills of striking and fielding. Being able to strike with a bat, pitch the ball, throw and catch are essential basics in this unit. In this unit it is an opportunity to take up different roles within the activity and it is important that all ākonga put themselves out there to demonstrate a role such as pitcher or backstop. Like other units with indepth rules often modified Softball is explored to ensure success for all and cater to varied abilities. Teeball and other modified games are often demonstrated in this unit.
