BADMINTON
Badminton a game consisting of an opponent (or two if doubles), a racquet, shuttlecock, court and net. The game of Badminton is sometimes frustrating for some, and can be a challenge. The key is use your wrist joint for movement and placement of the shuttlecock as opposed to your shoulder joint. Ensure you learn how to set up and pack away gear efficiently in this unit to maximize your learning opportunities for this unit.
FITNESS
Our fitness unit is an opportunity for ākonga to challenge themselves and set goals, track progress and reflect on how they have done throughout this unit. We explore elements of Cardiovascular Fitness, Strength, Endurance, Flexibility, Balance and Agility. While this unit is a collective demonstration from a class it is an opportunity to be tailored to individuals needs. Just a open mind, and can do attitude is needed.
AQUATICS / SNORKELLING
This unit develops skills that are essential for survival in and around the water. Given we are a island surrounded by water it is paramount that ākonga develop these skills at least to keep themselves and others safe. Ensuring ākonga are safe in the water is important at all times and we ask that ākonga don't wear cotton fabric, denim or any other materials other than swimwear, dryfit or spandex fabric. Equally important it is required that ākonga bring a towel for getting changed afterwards...and there are hot showers!
