Overview

Students will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics in lessons.

We offer two pathways for the science GCSEs, combined science and triple science (both with Higher and Foundation tiers). All students study the same content until the end of Year 10. At this point, based on exam data, in class assessments and teacher recommendation, we will make final pathway decisions. 

Triple

Students will achieve 3 GCSEs

Combined science

Students will achieve 2 GCSEs (with a mix of biology, chemistry and physics content)

Students will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics in lessons.

Assessments

Both the triple science and combined science pathways are 100% examination based. These exams will take place at the end of year 11.

• Higher tier grades 4-9 

• Foundation tier grades 1-5

There are 2 papers per subject:

• Combined - 1 hr 15

• Separate Science - 1 hr 45

Every students is required to complete a series of Required Practicals - which focus on both investigative and analytical skills linked to key scientific ideas.
