The Western Green Lizard - Spotted at Weavers Down.
This species of lizard is native to Jersey but is not found on the UK mainland (although fossil records suggest that it was once a native species). Some individuals were (re)introduced to a number of sites in the UK - Haslemere being one of these, in 1905. Of the reintroductions, only a small viable population has been recorded to have survived in Bournemouth. Is this sighting a possible indicator of a population on our very doorstep?
