ELA Program Overview - Select your curriculum in the menu

Through thoughtful instruction, we strive to transform students into readers, writers, and thinkers, and our hope is that through carefully chosen texts, students will not only grow in their academic skills but come to appreciate the art of literature and grow in character.

Through our ELA curriculum we seek to:

1. Develop readers who have the ability to critically think, analyze, and connect complex texts.

2. Develop writers who have the ability to communicate effectively and convey thoughts and opinions in a mature and creative fashion.

3. Build our students’ vocabulary.

4. Build authentic and relevant background knowledge.

5. Develop oral fluency and confidence so students can effectively communicate and convey thoughts and opinions.

Our ELA curriculum is designed around several core beliefs about how students learn best. These beliefs drive the decisions we make about what to teach and how to teach it.
