My Teacher's Website

I am looking forward to a new and exciting year. It is my job to encourage each child to take risks, to feel safe to make mistakes, and to allow them the opportunity to learn new skills and concepts. I look forward to working with you in order to support your child’s learning.

I will encourage students’ questions, answers (right or wrong), and ideas. I believe that students will decide which information is important to them and will use this information to reach a higher level of cognition.  The information they learn adds to or replaces prior knowledge.  My role as the teacher is to provide appropriate and significant material needed for them to reach this new level of understanding.

The atmosphere in our classroom stimulates questioning about their environment and their knowledge.  In addition, our classroom environment encourages critical thinking and problem solving.  By respecting a student’s ideas and by encouraging a higher level of thinking, we help the students take responsibility for their own learning, which in turn makes learning more useful, meaningful, and fun.

Mrs. Pellegrino

Welcome to a new year of learning.  I am excited to embark on this new adventure with you and your child.  Even though I have been teaching for over 20 years, this year will prove to be one of the most memorable years.

I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade in Washington and Nevada. I began my teaching career in Nevada after being a field biologist for 10 years.  My husband, two daughters, and I moved to Washington in 2011 to be able to raise our two daughters in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  Our youngest daughter is a freshman in college majoring in neuroscience and oldest daughter is starting her third year in college this year majoring in sociology.  We enjoy hiking, camping, and kayaking in our spare time.

I am looking forward to a new journey with you and your child this year.
