Welcome! I look forward to another great school year! Please read below for parent instructions for the start of the year:
Orchestra "Tune-up Day" will take place Saturday August 19th from 9-12 noon in the BHS Orchestra Room. This event will include a general parent and student information, uniform fitting, locker and instrument assignment, and Booster Club orders. This is a come & go event, however, it is MANDATORY for all BHS Orchestra students.
Please read the BHS Orchestra Handbook thoroughly. Students will receive a physical copy the handbook in class. After reading the Handbook, please complete the Student Registration & Handbook Acknowledgment Form.
Next, please review the Orchestra Calendar and mark your personal calendar with up-coming orchestra dates. Please read the attendance policies stated in the Orchestra Handbook. It is crucial that any schedule conflicts are communicated as soon as possible.
Please Note: All calendar dates are subject to change. Notifications will be sent regarding any scheduling changes.

We are excited to be visiting New York City once again! There are a small number of spots left - last call reservations must be place by August 31! Email Mr. Patterson for itinerary and pricing details.
Since this is a costly trip, there will be multiple fundraising opportunities. More information regarding fundraisers to come!

The Director
Preston Patterson, BHS Director of Orchestra, is a Central Texas native. Starting viola in the 7th grade, Mr. Patterson played in orchestra through high school. Mr. Patterson went on to study music at Temple College, graduating in 2014 with an Associate's of Art in Music, then transferring to Stephen F. Austin State University and graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Art in Viola Performance, and in 2018 with a Master's of Music in Viola Performance. In addition to overseeing the Orchestra programs at BHS, BMS, & SBMS, Mr. Patterson also teaches private lessons and regularly performs with the Temple Symphony Orchestra.
